Tempo 1134-5029 Sidekick 7B
The Tempo Communications 1134-5029 Sidekick 7B quickly and accurately uncovers intermittent troubles other test sets can't detect. You get rapid testing, stress test and instant readout of ohms, volts and capacitive kick plus single hookup testing of tip-ring, tip-ground and ring-ground. The analog meter provides tone for identifying pairs or crossed conductors. Drying effect is minimal on all ranges. The stress test reads the audible noise produced on a faulted pair that is stressed by a 90-dBrn longitudinal excitation. The tester determines the noise susceptibility of a dry pair and the stressed balance of working pair.
The 1134-5029 Sidekick 7B butt set includes field-replaceable test leads, battery, low-battery indicator light, soft case with adjustable strand hook and manual. The 16.2-ounce unit measures 8.7" x 3.4" x 2". One-year warranty.
The instrument also provides a DC voltmeter, an ohmmeter with a kickmeter function and a "points" scale. Pair condition is simple to determine, and approximate meter readings tell you what to do. The leakage test detects intermittent resistance faults that don't show up under normal VOM tests. The leakage test uses 135 V DC to punch through the oxide layer and reveal the fault. The 7B meter is used throughout the telephony industry including LAN/WAN, private networks and BICSI applications.
