The SMLP-55-0908PR specializes in testing fiber optic networks that consist of hybrid (single mode and multimode) cables using the OLS4 integrated LED/laser light source and OPM5-2D optical power meter.
The OLS4 light source features 850- and 1300-nm LED output from a MM output port plus 1310- and 1550-nm laser output from a SM port. This light source is capable of transmitting wavelengths through CW, user selectable modulated tone (SM output), or Wave ID. The OLS4 supports Wave ID transmission consisting of alternating wavelength pairs. This LED/laser light source also comes equipped with UCI based removable adapters at each output port that allow the output connectors to be easily cleaned.
The OPM5-2D's main application is to ensure accurate test results per current TIA/EIA requirements. This power meter offers Wave ID automatic wavelength identification and switching when used with the matching Noyes OLS4 light source. This device can use 270-Hz, 330-Hz, 1-kHz and 2-kHz multiple test tone detection to identify fibers. The OPM5-2D can store up to 500 records per wavelength of power or insertion loss measurements in internal non-volatile memory. When used in conjunction with the supplied Windows® compatible software and the OPM5-2D's USB connection, these test records can be transferred to a PC for storage, display, analysis and printing.
