AFL OFI-400 Optical Fiber Identifier with LCD
The AFL OFI-400 Optical Fiber Identifier detects signals transmitted through single mode fiber without disrupting traffic. A unique two-position head is configured to work with 250- and 900-µm coated fiber, 3-mm jacketed fiber cable or ribbon fiber in seconds. No optical plunger swapping or adjustments are required when testing different fiber types. The OFI clamps onto the fiber creating a macro-bend which safely permits a small amount of light to escape without affecting the measurement process or the fiber signal. Measure fiber core or relative power on a backlit LCD during installation, maintenance, rerouting or restoration.
The live fiber detector features:
- Multiple tone signal detection (270 Hz, 330 Hz, 1 kHz or 2 kHz) and set reference

- Detection Sensitivity: -45 dBm @ 1550 nm, 250 µm fiber
- Power Measurement: +13 to -50 dBm @ 1550 nm, 250 µm fiber
The OFI-400 fiber identifier comes with 2-AAA batteries, a user's guide and a carry case. The 6-ounce unit measures 8.5" x 1.5" x 1.1". Five year product warranty through AFL. Three year recommended calibration interval.
